The Loose Mansion is one of Kansas City's historic treasures and is listed on the National Historic Register.  The 15,000 sq. ft. mansion was built in 1909 by Jacob and Ella Loose.

Mr. Loose founded both the American Biscuit Company (merged with Nabisco), and later the Loose-Wiles Biscuit Company (later Sunshine Biscuits).  He invented the Hydrox cookie in 1905 and the soda cracker in 1917.  By 1925, Loose-Wiles employed 30,000 people throughout the United States.  Mrs. Loose was known for her lavish parties and for her generosity, especially to children.  She also donated Loose Park to Kansas City to honor her husband, Jacob.

Ken and Barbara Saathoff, the mansion's owners, have recently completed an "extreme makeover" of the mansion and Carriage House.  Loose Mansion has received a great deal of favorable press from local media and has been called "the finest new venue to open in Kansas City in 20 years."  It has quickly become a favorite location for weddings and receptions, rehearsal dinners, social gatherings and corporate events of all types.

Because our visitors enjoy learning more about the mansion and its original owners, we added this history section to the website.  We also give our guests the opportunity to explore and experience the mansion during events.

We encourage you to schedule your event at the elegant Loose Mansion and to "Enjoy a Part of Kansas City's History!"
