Loose Mansion is owned and managed by Ken and Barbara Saathoff, who have completely renovated the historic property.  Although they employ a full time staff to help manage the mansion business, Barbara remains actively involved in planning and managing events.  Ken, who supervised the renovation of the mansion, has worked to make the mansion a great venue for all types of events.  His interest in technology and music is evident in the mansion's studio-quality sound and video systems and its wireless Internet capabilities ...  things that are unexpected in a 100 year-old mansion.

Loose Mansion Philosophy

The owners and staff want every client to be delighted with their experience at Loose Mansion.  To ensure that this occurs, the mansion staff becomes actively involved in planning each event.  The mansion also directly provides many services associated with the event, including the food and décor.  For the client, this makes things easier, and it eliminates much of the stress involved.

If you shop other private venues, you'll ordinarily experience catered food, rental company décor, and very limited planning assistance.

Privacy and Exclusivity

You'll enjoy and appreciate a level of exclusivity at Loose Mansion that only occurs when you have a facility all to yourself.  Restaurants and hotels simply don't compare.

Mansion Location

The Loose Mansion is located in the center of Kansas City, and it's easy to get to from anywhere.  It's also just minutes from the Country Club Plaza, Crown Center, Westport, and Downtown.  So it's close to shopping and hotels.

Mansion Facility

The mansion was one of Kansas City's most elegant homes in the early 1900's.  The imported hand-carved mahogany and tile along with the craftsmanship of the building is remarkable.  The mansion is particularly unusual because of the extent to which it has been preserved and restored. This process is time consuming, expensive, and seldom accomplished.  Another striking feature of the mansion is simply its size.  The mansion and Carriage House are 17,000 square feet.  The Loose family hired an architect from Washington, D.C.  to design their home.  He was well known for designing embassies.  As a result, unlike many large homes, the mansion was built to handle large numbers of guests and is very well suited for wedding receptions and corporate events.

Carriage House Accommodations

The Carriage House provides comfortable, unique and convenient overnight accommodations for up to 10 guests.  The Carriage House is well-suited for company visitors, guest speakers, customers, and out-of-town employees.  Some corporate groups have also enjoyed the large sitting rooms for relaxed small meetings.

The Mansion Property

Parking is frequently a problem, but not at Loose Mansion!  There are 30 lighted parking spaces on the property and another 200 lighted spaces immediately adjacent and parking is convenient and free.  The parking lots have been redone, and we've added a number of handrails and lights for your safety.  We've also added new landscaping all around the property.

Mansion Food

Loose Mansion is a "Full Service Venue."  Your meals will be prepared on-site by mansion staff.  You can expect delicious food and a wide variety of selection and price ranges.

Loose Mansion's "Full Service" approach offers significant advantages over private venues that use outside catering.  As a full service venue, we can now assure you that your food will be freshly prepared at the mansion, just for your event, that it will be beautifully displayed, and that you'll receive the level of service that you expect and deserve throughout your entire event.

Mansion Décor, Equipment, and Furnishings

To ensure that the mansion is always beautiful, to simplify preparation and teardown, and reduce your costs, we supply all furniture, equipment, and décor needed for mansion events.  You won't need a rental company for anything.  You may want to add fresh floral, but we're available to make those arrangements for you as well.

The mansion owns beautiful furnishings, electronics equipment, custom made chairs, a variety of tables, spectacular table décor, china, and linens for your event.  If you've ever tried to outfit a facility with rental chairs, tables, decorations and table décor, you'll definitely appreciate the difference at Loose Mansion!

Mansion Technology

Whether you're conducting a meeting or hosting a private party, high quality sound and video make a difference.  You simply won't find a venue that provides a better range of services for voice, music, and video.  The mansion's close-circuit camera system projects video and sound throughout the mansion from the main stage.  Toasts and presentations can be easily heard and seen.  Live music can be clearly heard and enjoyed by everyone.  There's also a digital grand piano available.  And, the mansion's Internet and portable projection system are great for daytime meetings and conferences.

Mansion Service

The mansion staff doesn't just provide planning assistance and outstanding food and beverage service.  There is staff available throughout your event to greet guests and to help with directions and parking, transportation arrangements, coat check, mansion tours, audio/visual equipment, and other requests that invariably occur during an event.
